Discovering the Deeper Mind
Discovering the Fascinating World of Hypnosis and the Subconscious Mind
A One-Day Learning Workshop

Group Therapy Session

Southend on Sea
Saturday 14th November 2026

10.30am to 4.30pm

Curious about hypnosis and how it might work? This engaging, hands-on workshop offers a fascinating introduction to hypnosis, the subconscious mind, and the ways our thoughts, emotions and behaviour can be influenced by processes outside our everyday awareness.

Whether you’re simply curious about hypnosis, interested in personal development, or considering exploring the subject further, this workshop provides an opportunity to discover what hypnosis is really about — separating fact from fiction along the way.

During the day, we’ll explore the fascinating history of hypnosis, from its earliest uses through to modern ideas and approaches. We’ll look at different perspectives on the subconscious mind and consider some of the controversies surrounding hypnosis — including the intriguing question of whether hypnosis is actually a distinct state at all.

The workshop is designed to be positive, practical and enjoyable, with demonstrations and opportunities to experience a variety of hypnotic techniques for yourself. There’s nothing scary or worrying about taking part, and everything will be explained clearly before you try it.

Some feedback comments from previous workshops…
•    “Fantastic”
•     “Fun, informative course.”
•    “Learned so much and all my thoughts about hypnosis have changed… also amazingly relaxed at the end”
•     “Practical’s were fun, not scary”
•    “The day shot by because it was so amazing!”
•    “I would encourage people to be open minded and give the course a go”

We’ll also introduce self-hypnosis and explore how it can be used as a practical tool for self-help, relaxation, personal development and exploring your own thoughts and experiences.

What will you discover?

  • By the end of the workshop, you’ll have:

  • An introduction to the history and development of hypnosis

  • A greater understanding of different ideas about the subconscious mind

  • An opportunity to experience and practise simple hypnotic techniques

  • An introduction to self-hypnosis and its potential uses

  • A better understanding of what hypnosis can — and cannot — do

  • The chance to explore some of the myths, misconceptions and controversies surrounding hypnosis

This is an introductory workshop, rather than professional training in hypnotherapy. It will give you a solid understanding of the core ideas and techniques of hypnosis, including approaches that can be useful for personal development, but it does not provide the comprehensive training required to practise hypnotherapy with others.
