Exploring Space for KS2

Bringing the Excitement of Space to your School or Group! My space day for KS2 includes different sessions hat can be combined together in many different ways, depending on numbers and the focus of your topic.

  • The Stars and Planets

  • Handling Real Meteorites

  • Exploring Space Travel

  • Space-Age Childhood

  • and more...

Space is a fascinating topic, but can be challenging to bring to life in the classroom (and can also generate questions that can be difficult to answer for the non-specialist teacher!).

I will really engage your class or group with the topic of space in ways that are exciting and enhance learning,  and provide your group with an unforgettable experience.

Space Education Modules

There are a ranges of modules that together make a fantastic space day. Each can be delivered in approximately one ho0ur, but can be extended if time and space allows. These modules are:

The Stars and Planets

A scene-setting exploration of the Universe starting with the stars and planets and moving out into the Universe with stars, galaxies and black holes.

We will place these in the context of the stars, planets and constellations that pupils can see for themselves at the time of the visit to enable them to follow up at home and see things for themselves in the real skies from their back gardens.

Discovering Meteorites

Your pupils will handle and examine real meteorites, with not only impressive specimens but also scientifically important ones, and learn where they come from and what they are.

They will also find out about shooting stars and even how they could find their own micro-meteorites!

This activity takes approximately 1 hour per group (depending on ages, ability and timetable).

This includes genuine artefacts from the history of space travel.
This is approximately 1 hour per group (depending on ages, ability and timetable).

Half Full Moon

A Space-Age Childhood

Learning with a difference with this exciting session that looks at childhood in the space age, through original toys and games with the space theme that was very popular during the space race.
As well as being really enjoyable, interactive and memorable, this session includes both substantial science and even an optional PSHE learning elements...
